Bind, the Brain Injury Network of Dallas, is a non-profit organization providing tools and a bridge of support to adult brain injury survivors so they can reconnect into life, the community and the workplace. BIND is a member of the International Brain Injury Clubhouse Alliance (IBICA) with programs in the USA, Canada and Australia. BIND is the IBICA program in Texas for adults living with the effects of an acquired brain injury. An acquired brain injury is not present at birth and may be caused by stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), lack of oxygen to the brain, brain swelling, concussion or brain tumor/cancer. The BIND program is a positive mentoring community center where survivors are members, not patients, where members together with BIND staff run all aspects of the program. Through work-centered tasks including answering phones, developing newsletters, planning group activities, cleaning the facility, etc., Members gain work skills, address appropriate social behaviors, and develop skills necessary to live more independently.
